Mayor Andersen served on the Morgan Hill City Council just before returning to Danville, from January 1993-December 1994, having been appointed under similar circumstances to her appointment in Danville. When it came time to run for her seat in Morgan Hill, Candace's husband Phil was presented with a job opportunity which would bring their family back to Danville. They decided that Danville was where they needed to raise their family.

While serving on the Morgan Hill City Council, Candace received awards for her work in improving parks, starting a City-wide arboretum, implementing a graffiti eradication program, and for supporting historic preservation.

Prior to her appointment to the Morgan Hill City Council Candace served on the Morgan Hill Parks and Recreation Commission and the Rent Stabilization (Mobile Home Park) Commission.

Candace's experience and training in the rapidly growing City of Morgan Hill has provided an opportunity to bring fresh ideas, a different way of doing things in Danville.

ATTORNEY LICENSED TO PRACTICE LAW IN CALIFORNIA (1988) and HAWAII (1985)

Mayor Andersen put her legal career on hold to raise her family. She keeps her California license active and furthers her training with Continuing Legal Education Courses.

ROOTS IN THE COMMUNITY

Mayor Andersen was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii and first came to Danville in 1983 to meet her husband's family. She is married to Phil Andersen, who grew up in Danville and graduated from Monte Vista High School in 1974. His family arrived in Danville in 1969.

Following their marriage in 1983, Phil and Candace spent a great deal of time in Danville. They admired the beautiful parks and the way in which Danville was carefully being developed to preserve open space and keep hillsides free from development. They hoped to permanently return someday. After living in Honolulu, followed by a move to Morgan Hill, they had the opportunity to move back to Danville in 1995. They did not hesitate to do so. Danville is where they wanted to raise their family.

Candace and Phil are the parents of six children who range in age from 10 to 23. Their three younger children attend Sycamore Valley Elementary, Charlotte Wood Middle and San Ramon Valley High Schools. Their older three children have graduated from San Ramon Valley High School are attending Brigham Young University in both Provo, Utah and Rexburg, Idaho.
