Position StatementBy Sarah GonzalesCandidate for Board Member; Hayward Unified School District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
As a successful candidate for the Hayward Unified School District Board in 2003, I promised to address the fiscal and educational challenges facing the district at that time. I focused on three main areas: selecting a competent superintendent committed to the Hayward community; approving and monitoring a budget that demonstrates our belief that children come first; and improving facilities for our students to learn. I have provided leadership and accountability in my term as a school board member. The Board selected a superintendent with demonstrated educational leadership; the Board has a balanced budget with the required reserves, and the Hayward Community overwhelmingly passed a facilities bond (Measure I). In addition, the district has made progress in improving student achievement and safety. There is still much work to be done in the district and I want to continue to provide the leadership to continue improving Hayward schools. Re-elect me to the Board of Trustees for Hayward's schools and I will continue to be accountable for your trust. |
