In 1996, Stuart joined the staff of Assemblymember Bob Hertzberg, eventually becoming his Chief of Staff, a position he held until 2007 under Bob's successor. While with Speaker Hertzberg, Stuart fought to reduce traffic by helping to create and fully fund the Orange Line transitway while also implementing a Valley-wide traffic signal synchronization plan. Stuart also implemented anti-gang legislation aimed at keeping our schools and streets safe from youth gang violence. As a local educator, Stuart plans to fight the Sacramento bureaucracy to bring real education reform to Valley schools.

As a candidate for the 40th Assembly District, Stuart is honored to be endorsed by the California Professional Firefighters, the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley, the Cal State Northridge College Democrats, Assemblymembers Paul Krekorian and Anthony Portantino, and Former Assemblymember Bob Hertzberg. Stuart and his wife, attorney Nicole Kuklok-Waldman, share their Van Nuys home with their two rescue dogs.
