Political Philosophy for Michael A. Livingston
Candidate for |

|
Our political system is polarized between left and right, Democrats and Republicans, "red" and "blue" states. Leaders are chosen from a few powerful families rather than from the people. Children learn politics from comedians instead of the evening news. I am running for Congress because I think that I can do better. My experience as a nonpartisan expert will help me to find solutions that bridge the gap between Democrats and Republicans and break the logjam in Washington. I am especially interested in tax and education reform which are vital to restore economic growth in Philadelphia and other large cities. I am a fiscal conservative and an unashamed patriot, but I believe that Government should respect people's personal choices and stay out of their private lives. If elected I will support: · A tax reform plan that reduces taxes on working men and women while eliminating tax shelters and other unnecessary subsidies · Education reform that preserves high national standards while providing equal opportunity for all children · Improved benefits for returning veterans and protection from mortgage foreclosures resulting from unfair lending practices · A strong foreign policy including reliable support for Israel and a just, honorable solution to the war in Iraq I will oppose: · Tax increases, open or disguised, which reduce income and savings for working Americans · An immediate withdrawal from Iraq which would endanger our forces and encourage further terrorist attacks · Efforts to impose any group's values, left or right, on the rest of the people Thank you for considering my candidacy. |
