Chris Nelms is a Graduate of Taft High School, attending Central State University on a Baseball Scholarship and serving as team Captain. Drafted by the Reds in 1975 and later being inducted into CSU's Athletic Hall of Fame. Currently employed as a Prevention Educator @ Children's Hospital. Previously employed in the Cincinnati School System(25yrs) in various roles: Teacher, Prevention Specialist, Head Baseball Coach and Athletic Director(Hughes). Chris has numerous children, nieces/nephews and grandchildren, who have attended or is currently attending a Cincinnati Public School. Chris resides in Avondale with his wife Terry and son Jabryel. Holding Doctorate and Master's in Education(Xavier) degrees, Chris is a Licensed Social Worker, Drug Counselor and Prevention Specialist. Also, a Certified Sports Counselor and Athletic Administrator. Chris currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor at Cincinnati State, Chatfield College and UC. Also, serving as the Chaplain for the Florence Freedom Professional Baseball Team, adult prisons and juvenile youth (20/20). Chris Nelms is an Ordained Minister and a Veteran of the U. S. Military(Navy). Chris Nelms has always served the community in various capacities. As a member of Cincinnati Federation of Teachers, NAACP, Avondale Community Council and other community organizations. Chris has actively engaged and supported campaigns of notable local candidates. Mr. Nelms has directed and managed two branch YMCA's(Lincoln Hts. & Madisonville). The Findlay St. Neighborhood House, Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority's-Drug Elimination and Youth Sports Program. Supervising over 10 housing complexes, serving 17,000 residents.
