1. What are your qualifications for office? (50 word limit)
I am passionate about education. Current President of Wyoming Board of Education, BOE member for the past four years, held numerous volunteer leadership positions since 1997. Our children attend our schools, (11th and 9th grades). Small business owner for 12 years. I have the experience to lead an effective organization.2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)
By focusing on student achievement and efficient use of public funds, I will continue to work with the board and administrators, based on our community's priorities, to ensure that our staff has the necessary resources to educate our children. I will also continue our initiative for our students to be successful in a global economy of the 21st century. Wyoming must continue to focus on the total child beyond the basics of math, language arts and science. This focus is what differentiates Wyoming and helps us attain our high accolades.3. What is your position on amending the Ohio Constitution with regard to the funding of public schools? (150 word limit)?
The current State school funding formula is flawed and broken and places too much burden on local tax payers. I do not support amending the Ohio Constitution as proposed this year in its current form. While the State Legislators have failed to provide a fair school funding solution, I do not support the amendment's non-local elective oversight. Additionally, the amendment, as presented, does not adequately identify the source of funds to increase school funding nor does it identify if Wyoming will receive more funding or not. Without identifying the source new funds, our State is at risk of falling further behind in competing with states for new commerce. The State of Ohio must be focused on increasing revenue so that our students, at all education levels, can compete on a global scale.
