The first reason that I am qualified for this position is that I have a child who is now in our Preschool, and I am concerned about her education. Secondly, I graduated from the UC in 2006 and in 2001 I graduated from High School so I still have a connection.

You know this is a hard one my number 1 and number 3 priorities all have a connection. If we are honest and upfront with the residents of Finneytown and have crystal clear access then we should be well within our means. But, I also belive that if we have a shortage before we turn to the voters we need to make cuts in areas that don't affect our children including in the district management if necessary. In todays world we have to be cognoscente of how we spend our money, and responsible with how we spend it.

Answer from Albert E. Brown:

Facilitate school goals of striving for excellence in academics, arts, athletics, and community service initiatives. Establish benchmarks to measure whether the goals are being achieved. Explore whether and how students input and interests are recognized, considered and integrated into learning processes. Maximize family and community involvement in school activities. Focus on ensuring students and their families feel welcomed, connected, and safe on school campuses and that Finneytown schools are an essential and core component of the Finneytown community. Provide opportunities and easy access for continued staff development and create business relationships that will enable students' access to the most current technologies and innovations.

Answer from Albert E. Brown:

I support the primary objectives of the school funding amendment, which guarantees a quality education for all students regardless of their categorical status, and reducing school funding reliance on property taxes. However, it is not clear that these objectives will be met with the current proposed amendment. Very much at issue to me is what constitutes a quality education, how those who are to determine quality standards will be selected, who will they be accountable to, and automatic costs increases to tax payers driven by inflation for education services that have been determined by authorities over which taxpayers will have no recourse. On face value, the proposed amendment addresses, what legislatures so far have failed to do, but with a seemingly unmanageable price tag and no warranties that quality, education will be achieved. I am in favor of many components of the amendment with some provisions for taxpayer recourse.

On this matter I personally do not know enough to have a position. It is something that I am open to hearing more about but, I am also very wary of amending our state Constitution irresponsibly and if our students and residents are not well taken care then I feel it would be an irresponsible decision.
