Governmental Accessibility

By Scott H. Seskin

Candidate for Mayor; Village of Dobbs Ferry

This information is provided by the candidate
Creating an open and transparent government which residents have access to and can voice their opinion to.
As a Village Trustee and as a resident of Dobbs Ferry, I understand the need for accessibility to Village officials.

I define accessibility as follows: the ability to speak with elected officials as well as Village employees about day to day issues and receiving a comprehensible and satisfactory answer; and, the ability to comment and be heard on current issues pending before the Board of Trustees at Village meetings.

As Mayor, I intend to hold "breakfast" meetings at least one day on a weekend each month where residents can meet with me to express their problems, concerns and opinions about village matters.

I intend to reform the current format for Board of Trustee meetings to accommodate public commentary after each item of new business. The current format precludes discussion on new business and defers it to the next meeting, when it may no longer be relevant. Public imput on pending matters will be of paramount importance to my administration.

I will also insure that residents receive answers from their elected and Village employees that are responsive to their questions. Misunderstandings and miscommunications are a large source of problems for residents. Our Village residents are intelligent, hard-working individuals who want to be treated as such and, it is incumbent upon their governmental officials to take the time to give thoughtful and comprehensive responses. This will eliminate unnecessary complaints and improve relations.
