This Turlock drinking water project needs to talked about in a public forum. No citizen seems to know that this water treatment plant is being proposed.
1.There are many issues facing TID today, but probably the most important issue is the surface water treatment plant on the Tuolumne River. The details of this water treatment plant need to be talked about publicly and in the open. The residents need to know what options are available to them and what outcomes they could face for each option. Right now I hear that water rates could be increased up to three times what residents are paying now. And that the water will be chlorinated, not what the residents are used to. I also hear from farmers that they are concerned that water may not be available to them in dry-year conditions if residents and industry take more surface water. These answers need to be addressed publicly. Residents need good tasting water that is affordable and farmers need water that they can rely on. While I support building this project, I will ensure that these needs are addressed and that the costs for this project and all TID projects are responsibly managed.
