BioMy wife and I have been extremely fortunate to have lived in San Carlos for 28 years. Yvette is currently the librarian at Heather Elementary School and my two sons are newly employed after recently graduating from college. During my earliest years in San Carlos, I coached AYSO soccer and attended various committee meetings. Later, I served on the San Carlos Cultural and Arts Commission and the Economic Development Advisory Committee. I presently chair the San Carlos Planning Commission and the San Carlos Residential Design Review Committee and serve as president for San Carlos Sister Cities Association. Also, I sit on the Canada College Presidential Advisory Committee and the Tahoe Tyrol Homeowners Association board. I am a member of our Chamber of Commerce and recently participated in the Chamber's May'07 volunteer work group that traveled to Pass Christian to rebuild homes destroyed by Katrina. If elected to City Council, I will perform vigilant analysis, encourage public input, and exercise my decision-making responsibilities fairly and efficiently. My priorities include developing creative and workable plans for the east side (including Palo Alto Medical Foundation and a new landmark hotel), the railroad/El Camino corridor with mixed retail and residential opportunities, and the Bell Market site. Other important issues include improving athletic fields, balancing the city budget, addressing traffic issues, and developing a new general plan which will enhance our quality of life and business interests and introduce new "green" guidelines. I am a strong advocator for town hall meetings and expansion of technology/web tools that enable stronger communication between the citizens and the council. My finance education at USF and MBA at USC provide me with strong analytical expertise. I refined these skills during my 23 year career at HP where I collaborated in several complex, high-tech investment scenarios. During my past four years at HP/Agilent, I was acting CFO of three Silicon Valley start-ups where I provided leadership and financial consulting, as well as, communication with management, board of directors and investors. My personal interests include photography/Photoshop, San Carlos history, woodworking, travel, long walks with Mia (our lab), skiing & golf. Why do I want to run for City Council? I thrive on community involvement and enjoy achieving results that help others. I am engaged, experienced and eager to guide our city through the next four years. I have established leadership skills and solid long-term relationships. I am passionate about working with my fellow council members and would be honored to serve YOU on our City Council. |
