The mandate of universal public education means that education is a community endeavor, involving a diversity of personalites, backgrounds and interests. So, as a community, we must make sure that we are listening to all voices and always moving forward with some kind of consensus. We must always keep in mind that we are educating whole human beings: future citizens, creators, thinkers, artists, parents. Finally, we must remember that children spend six and a half hours of their day at school. Their daily experience, their "felt life," must remain the paramount concern of the educators and administrators in the district, despite national and state trends to the contrary.
