2. What are your Qualifications for Office? (50 word limit)

3. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)

In order to attract (and retain) residents we must first remove the barriers in our communities that make them unattractive to potential residents. We need to reduce crime, blight and address under performing schools.

Rather its prostitution, petty theft, aggravated assault or murder, most crime is directly related to illegal drug use/sales. It's time to tighten our laws. Open-Air Drug Markets are destroying our city. Property owner's who support Open-Air Drug Markets, by turning a blind eye, need to be held responsible. Current law offers little to ZERO consequence to irresponsible property owners. That needs to change immediately.

4. What changes would you recommend for improving public oversight of charter schools? (150 word limit)

Under performing schools is a major barrier in the effort to attract potential residents to our communities. And, existing families in communities with failing schools deserve a choice. If the voucher program proves successful and better educates our children, then it should be explored. From an economic stand point vouchers make sense. The cost to educate a child in Cincinnati's public school system is considerably more than the dollar amount issued by voucher, therefore reducing the financial burden on tax-payers by thousands of dollars per student. With that said, however, this is a sensitive issue. If public school enrollees decline (as it continues to do in Cincinnati) so do teacher and administrator jobs. This has to be dealt with delicately.

5. Ohio has the highest foreclosure rate in the nation. What actions would you support at the state level to address this crisis? (150 word limit)

Over-lending, Job Loss and Declining Property Values

Financial lending is a competitive industry. For an institution to make money, among other things, it needs to lend money. Institutions need to tighten their lending requirements. They need to stop lending people more debt than they can afford.

The US economy has shifted to a global market. Ohio's economy is adjusting from the Industrial age of Production to an Information age of Technology. Ohio's manufacturing jobs are drying up and regrettably, Ohio hasn't been timely in attracting a replacement industry to fill the demand for jobs. Ohio needs to make it easier to do business in our state.

As the population declines, the demand for housing declines. Effectively, this leaves an abundant supply of housing which forces property values down. When seeking to sell (i.e. job loss or a declining neighborhood), many Ohioans find themselves upside down on mortgages causing foreclosure.
