1. What are the three major issues you would address immediately if elected?*
|
Answer from Vincent L. Leibell, III:
Reducing taxes and controlling spending; improving our children's education; preserving our environmental resources.
Answer from Michael B. Kaplowitz:
Property and school tax relief, comprehensive energy policy including conservation and renewable sources and quality of life initiatives such as health care reform, open space preservation and clean air/water initiatives.
2. What is your opinion regarding the formation of an independent redistricting commission?*
|
Answer from Michael B. Kaplowitz:
I absolutely support an independent redistricting commission to restore public's confidence in legislative process. I also endorse other reform measures to clean up Albany's mess such as campaign finance reform.
Answer from Vincent L. Leibell, III:
This is something that should clearly be considered for Federal, State and local governments whenever redistricting is under consideration.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?*
|
Answer from Michael B. Kaplowitz:
I'm a five-term County Legislator who's demonstrated fiscal responsibility as Budget Chair and achieved environmental accomplishments as Environment Committee Chair. My experience and independence is needed to change Albany now!
Answer from Vincent L. Leibell, III:
As Senator, I have earned experience in addressing my constituents' concerns through hard-work and with a pragmatic, bi-partisan, independent approach to government.
