1. What are the three major issues you would address immediately if elected?*
|
Answer from J. Gary Pretlow:
Awarding a franchise to operate Belmont, Saratoga and Aqueduct race tracks; reducing the cost of Medicaid; making the Workers Compensation system work better.
Answer from Barbara Snyder:
I would immediately address the issues of high taxes, lack of affordable housing and urban crime that are forcing New Yorkers to move out of state.
2. What is your opinion regarding the formation of an independent redistricting commission?*
|
Answer from Barbara Snyder:
I heartily endorse formation of an independent redistricting commission. The current process encourages complacency, inactivity and corruption by smug incumbent officeholders.
Answer from J. Gary Pretlow:
I do not agree with the proposal to form an independent redistricting commission.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?*
|
Answer from J. Gary Pretlow:
14 years experience in the Legislature has given me great knowledge of the workings of this body. The seniority I've built up benefits Mount Vernon and Yonkers which I represent.
Answer from Barbara Snyder:
I bring a fresh, youthful perspective that will infuse energy into a body of lawmakers that rarely accomplish significant changes. I want to actually make a difference!
