I believe all children can learn.The vast majority of parents continue to entrust their children to the public schools... on the whole public education has been a success in America...millions have been influenced by a dedicated teacher as I have been and possibly you... Many times we tend to overlook the important people that drive the buses, maintain the schools and grounds provide security and a myraid of other functions. I have been critical of public education at times because I am not sure if certain federal programs are hurting or helping to unify our country...Debate over vouchers, charter schools and bilingual education goes back to the middle of the 19th Century...Horace Mann, an early architect of secondary education ...said "schools should be non-sectarian .." ..but he also said , "...students should read the same Bible {King James Version}.." Catholics began to break away and in essence started their own "Charter Schools"...this is when vouchers and public funding of private schools entered the public discourse...I support our Sun Valley Charter School , because choice is important in our Republic.....I believe in God , Country, and family...our family values center on cohesion, loyalty, education, integrity, circle the wagons when a family member is having difficulty...it is ok to doubt , pursue happiness and the truth ...belief in the American Creed..my family accepts the Bible as the "Written Word" but in our home and church we discuss and differ on interpretation of the Good Book...we do not impose our religious beliefs upon others.. we all repect the other person's religous beliefs as long as they do no harm to us or our Country...we also believe our nation has a rich religious history...and defend our beliefs. We should all guard against being victims of group think....do not self silence yourself...your views are important even if they are contrary ...many times contrary views save the day...
