Issues Important fo Voters in the PPH District

By Theodore E. "Ted" Kleiter

Candidate for Board Member; Palomar Pomerado Health System

This information is provided by the candidate
The past, present, and future of healthcare services in Inland North County.
Over the past four to five years the Administration and Board of PPH have studied the needs and demands of a growing population in our district. In addition, the legislature of the State has mandated increased earthquake safety construction requirements on all hospitals.

In response our Board has approved and submitted a very complete and detailed facilities plan to the voters and they approved it with the passage of Proposition "BB" at the last election for a General Obligation of $496 Million.

The facilities plan is as follows:

  • Building a new Major Medical Center in Escondido
  • Double the size of Pomerado Hospital in Poway
  • Remodel Palomar Medical Center for Rehab and Urgent care.
  • Locate outpatient facilities in Ramona & Penasquitos

I have also participated in addressing the shortage of nurses by our District partnering with Cal-State San Marcos to begin a Registered Nursing Program to meet the needs in our area.

In the Finance Committee, we are always searching for ways to reduce costs and make new improvements in technology available to our patients.

I support any efforts to expand insurance coverage to all citizens, especially those lacking coverage by employers in both the state and national forums.

I want to continue to actively participate in those plans we have developed and assure the voters that we will carry out programs they need for their families.
