Biographical StatementBy Michael MatsudaCandidate for Board Member; North Orange County Community College District; Area 3 | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
As your NOCCCD Board member, I am committed to the continued success of our community colleges: Fullerton, Cypress and the School of Continuing Education. I am proud to be a part of an integrated, collaborative system that supports learning that is relevant, rigorous, and academically stimulating. I am also proud of the fact that district finances are sound. Budgets are balanced. And there is no general fund deficit. I am committed to sound fiscal management and accountability. A lifelong resident of Orange County, I have deep roots here as a teacher, a husband, and a father. I am active in the PTA, the Boy Scouts, and various community literacy programs. As a parent and educator, I believe in an education that prepares students to think critically and to succeed in a global world. I am also a member of the California Curriculum Commission that recommends textbooks for K-8 students and curriculum frameworks for all K-12 students. I have a broad perspective of education from elementary to community college, and can therefore make sound decisions that ensure the District's new vision: "Our community college is the celebrated choice of diverse learners shaping our future." Thank you for your support. |
