Candidate for
Board Member; Orinda Union School District

Riki Sorenson was raised in Moraga, California, and attended Joaquin Moraga and Campolindo High School. She attended Stanford University, playing women's basketball and earning a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

She worked for two years as an engineer for G.E. in San Jose, then returned to UCLA for an advanced degree. There she obtained her master's degree in education and secondary (high school) teaching credential. She then taught for two years in San Diego as a physics and math teacher.

Following the birth of her three children, she joined the "volunteer" work force, becoming actively involved with the schools.

Riki served as a Glorietta Parents' Club co-president, and while a member of the OUSD Board of Trustees, continues at Glorietta as a database manager, auction committee volunteer, and classroom volunteer. She joined the OUSD Board of Trustees in 2002.

Riki is married to Andy Sorenson, an Orinda native and local ophthalmologist. They have three children who attend OUSD schools.
