Governing Board Member; Piedmont Unified School District

RAY GADBOIS believes in the value of education for our children and our community. He wants to maintain the quality and reputation of our schools and has identified three major areas of focus in the years ahead:

1. QUALITY OF EDUCATION

  • Renew our focus on the academic program
  • Benchmark other high-performing schools
  • Actively solicit parent and student input
  • Analyze test scores & identify potential issues
  • Expand staff time devoted to curriculum

2. STRONG FISCAL MANAGEMENT
  • Establish sustainable budget model
  • Develop long-term financial plan & goals
  • Control costs while maintaining program quality
  • Build balance of reserve for uncertainties
  • Avoid cuts in program and staff
  • Minimize future parcel tax increases

3. SEISMIC RISK REDUCTION
  • Establish comprehensive decision process
  • Perform detailed engineering study or review
  • Analyze and communicate relative seismic risks
  • Establish short-term plan to mitigate risk
  • Solicit extensive parent and community input
  • Perform cost/benefit analysis on rebuild options
  • Work closely with City on facility planning
  • Develop master plan with long term vision
  • Obtain competitive bids for major projects
