1. What are your Qualifications for Office? (50 word limit)
|
Answer from Richard S. "Dick" Kerstine:
I served on Amberley Council for 18 years (1979-1997) and as Mayor for the last four. During that time I Chaired the Roads, Police, Finance and Evaluation committees, and served ex-officio on all other committees. I have served on the Boards and Committees of many community organizations and have a good knowledge of the services, finances, and fundraising needs of these.
Answer from Charles S. "Chuck" Kamine:
Currently Mayor of Amberley Village; served 8 years on Council; served 21 years on Planning Commission; currently on executive board of First Suburbs Consortium of Southwest Ohio; practicing attorney for 29 years with experience in real estate, tax, probate, small business and government; past president of Congregation Bnai Tzedek.
2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)
|
Answer from Charles S. "Chuck" Kamine:
During my term as Mayor, I have worked hard to preserve and enhance the high quality of life for our Village which is defined by its wealth of open green space, urban forests and large lots as well as high quality public services. As a result, property values have increased and once again we are welcoming new young families with children to our neighborhood. I have worked to support a new public neighborhood Montessori school, new recreational facilities at the JCC, and economic development which respects our high value for green space and ensures our unique character will continue to move us forward.
Answer from Richard S. "Dick" Kerstine:
During my tenure as Mayor, I established a task force of qualified Village residents to aid in the planning of our new Village Hall. This proved very successful and could be utilized once again as we work to solve the problems with our North site and the Gibson Card site. These properties should be providing us with much needed revenue. I also take pride in the fact that during my years on Council we established a reserve of $4 million for use if Gibson closed or other needs arose. The reserves have been used in recent years to fund our deficit budgets. We must find other sources of revenue and develop all available properties to ensure Amberley's future. We cannot afford the luxury of not developing available property in the Village.
3. What steps would you take to ensure that all public facilities are accessible to people with disabilities? (100 words limit)
|
Answer from Richard S. "Dick" Kerstine:
Village Hall was built with careful attention to disability access.
Answer from Charles S. "Chuck" Kamine:
Our Village Hall is accessible to people with disabilities.
4. What specific steps will you take to expand recycling services in your community? (100 words limit)

Answer from Richard S. "Dick" Kerstine:
For many years Amberley has provided curbside pick-up service for recycling. This service was established while I was on Council.
Answer from Charles S. "Chuck" Kamine:
Currently the Village provides curbside recycling for all residents. We also provide leaf and branch pickup from all residents with mulching at our maintenance facility.
5. What steps would you take to provide affordable housing for all residents of your community? (100 words limit)
