Please vote for Claude Ezran to further improve our great schools. Key objectives:

Adhere to the highest standards of public office

  • Establish a collaborative action-oriented atmosphere at Board meetings.
  • Set clear strategic priorities and monitor execution.
  • Balance the needs and desires of students, parents, teachers, employees, administrators and taxpayers.

Require fiscal responsibility, accountability and visibility
  • Ensure that Measure A funds and the budget are wisely spent.
  • Improve long-term financial stability of the district.
  • Report to the community.

Improve communications with parents, the community and the City of Palo Alto
  • Hold informal community meetings in Palo Alto and Los Altos Hills. This will make it a lot easier to have meaningful two-way exchanges compared to the very formal and short one-way exchanges at School Board meetings.
  • Leverage the outstanding work done by the PTAs.
  • Explore potential synergies with the City regarding libraries, environmental issues, etc.

Pay more attention to the health and wellness of the students
  • Continue the progress already made by the Board. Ensure the District works closely with the new school lunch supplier to implement the new Nutrition Policy, improve the quality and healthiness of the food, and increase student lunch participation. Move the lunch program toward financial success.
  • Shorten the waiting lines at lunch.
  • Create a 5-10 year plan for up-to-date lunch facilities
  • Address the issue of excessive student stress.

Other important objectives:
  • Continue the district's tradition of academic excellence. * Ensure that students are well prepared for the substantial challenges of the 21st century.
  • Be a strong advocate for K-12 public education in California.
  • Focus on the education of the whole child: love of learning, balance in life and character.
  • Improve support for children from minority families. Work with parents and the PTA.
  • Help children with special education needs.
  • Encourage the learning of foreign languages and understanding of other cultures. Explore the possibility of offering Latin and Greek again, if there is enough interest.
  • Work to re-open a public elementary school in Los Altos Hills, possibly in conjunction with the Los Altos School District.
