Connie Rey Castro was born and raised in Southern California and is a product of the community colleges. She has lived in Pasadena for over 15 years and is married to Dr. Daniel Castro, a Pasadena native and current President of Riverside City College.

With more than 25 years experience in community college education, Connie Rey Castro has the training and hands-on experience that is needed on the Pasadena City College Board of Trustees. She is a recognized leader and published scholar on community college education and is well prepared for the challenges that face PCC today.

In addition to teaching, Connie's community college experience includes hiring, supervising and evaluating faculty, preparing the academic schedule, overseeing the budget, curriculum development, planning and developing community outreach programs.

Connie is a PhD Candidate in Higher Education at the University of Southern California. She serves on the National Advisory Board for the Transfer and Retention of Urban Community College Students, a research project funded by the Department of Education. In that capacity she has published numerous articles on community college governance, teaching and learning, collective bargaining, and student success.

Connie's Community and Civic Service in Pasadena includes serving on the Board of Directors for El Centro de Accion Social; Program Director for Zonta Women's Service Organization; Board Member for the Pasadena Aids Service Center; and, Vice President of the Pasadena Foothills ACLU Chapter.
