AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND LAND USE

I do not want to create affordable housing for working and middle class families. I want to create affordable home ownership.

Community Redevelopment dollars need to be spent to build single-family dwellings that are free standing homes on in fill lots. These homes should then be offered to working class and middle class families at attractive interest rates or with other incentives that would make the purchase of these homes affordable to first time buyers.

I will work to create an Affordable Home Ownership Center that will bring together all of the elements that will make one of our most precious dreams become a reality. The centers responsibility will be to:

1) Identify all federal, state and local government programs that will assist in bringing first time buyers into homes at affordable interest rates. 2) Identify properties that will match distressed inventory with interested buyers. 3) Promote and conduct seminars that prepare, and educate potential buyers on credit ratings, escrows, down payments, contracts, and interest rate strategies. 4) Introduce and guide potential homeowners through special offerings and programs that are made available by commercial banks as part of their community investment programs and their low income home purchase programs.
