Political Philosophy for Ana M. Apodaca
Candidate for |

|
I have always enjoyed being active in the community. Throughout my life I've remained active in my church, non-profit organizations, government, and education groups. Public service is very important to me and that is why I am running for the Newark City Council. My community involvement includes serving as president of the Hispanic Community Affairs Council, an organization that awards scholarships to students pursuing higher education. I am a member of the joint City of Newark/school district strategic planning committee; and the Newark Business Education Roundtable. I serve on the Advisory Board of Shelter Against Violent Environments (SAVE), am a Newark Days volunteer, and an active parishioner of St. Edwards Church. I will work to make sure that Newark remains a great city that continues to provide excellent services to its residents while keeping its small town atmosphere. My goals include: ·Strengthening our public safety by making sure we put our resources into training and essential tools so that our police and fire departments provide quality service and protection for our residents. ·Improving Newark's economic vitality by attracting strong businesses that pay good salaries and benefits to their employees. ·Expanding educational opportunities for our youth. We have a wonderful opportunity to build a strong partnership with Ohlone College, the school district and the city to provide a strong educational infrastructure. |
