We must continue to maintain a balance between enhancing the city's economy and protecting its environment without harming either. The City of Sonoma has proven there can be a balance between enhancing a community's economy and protecting its environment, without harming either. As Sonoma resident for 31 years, I share your concern that we must continue to maintain the balance between both in the future. All of us know traffic congestion is a major issue facing Sonoma. We must do a better job with traffic circulation using technologies such as "Smart-Light." We must continue to manage growth properly. Our new City Development Code is an excellent guide to the future on how to wisely use our remaining in-fill properties. We must protect our seniors living in Senior Housing and Mobile Home Parks. We cannot allow the majority of their fixed income to be spent on housing alone. We can have affordable housing opportunities by using good planning and zoning measures. We must work together to ensure Indian Casinos are not located anywhere near Sonoma. Our Plaza is part of our heritage and we must continue to protect it. We can protect the future of the Plaza, by honoring the past for both our Plaza merchants and weekend fundraising and cultural events. Respectfully, I ask for your support and vote. |
