Flooding and DrainageBy Bill SennaCandidate for Director; Oceano Community Services District | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
The county Public Works Department tells us that $11.6 million in drainage & curbing projects are needed to prevent future flooding in Oceano.Let's talk a bit about this issue. When Oceano was established the county chose not to provide OCSD with any funds for the flooding and drainage. Therefore, the SLO County would continue to be responsible for these concerns. I find that the County through their Planning Department has created many of the flooding problems by allowing or approving the multi-family developments through out the community. All of these new projects need paved parking... Now it doesn't take a rocket engineer to understand that the water can no longer percolate into the ground. The water must run off some where. Now the county turns to you and me to pay for the suggested $11.6million project. I would advocate that we need the county live up to the17 Aesponsibility and attend to the challenge. |
