May San Francisco residents who are 18 or older vote in School Board elections, whether or not the resident is a United States citizen, if the resident is a parent, guardian or care-giver of a child in the School District?
San Francisco residents who are 18 years of age or older and who are United States citizens are eligible to vote in San Francisco elections. THE PROPOSAL: Proposition F is a Charter amendment that would allow San Francisco residents who are 18 years of age or older to vote for members of the Board of Education, whether or not the resident is a United States citizen, if the resident: o Has a child in the School District, or o Serves as legal guardian or care giver (as defined in the California Family Code) for a child in the School District. Proposition F would apply to the November 2006 election when three members of the Board of Education will be elected and to the November 2008 election when four members of the Board of Education will be elected. After the 2008 election, Proposition F would expire unless the Board of Supervisors adopts an ordinance allowing it to continue. The Board of Supervisors may also adopt ordinances implementing Proposition F.
