We need to attract and encourage a variety of new businesses into Beaumont.
Beaumont has a very limited economic base of businesses and industries. We must begin to attract a variety of businesses that can employ our citizens. With the new
Lowe's distribution center and the Home Depot and Wal-mart
stores opening soon, there are more unskilled and semi-skilled jobs available in Beaumont. We need to also look for industries that employ professional and skilled labor forces. Many of our new members of the community have to
commute to other areas because of the lack of jobs that
pay the kind of wages that allow them to live in this area.
It is vitally important that we have a good mix of residential, commercial and industrial resources in Beaumont. If we become a "bedroom" community, we will lose
the sense of a small town and just become another suburb.
