My vision for our future in Palm DesertBy Jerome PineauCandidate for Council Member; City of Palm Desert | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
Our city is at a historical crossroad. How can we manage growth and ensure a bright future for us and coming generations.I'm here to offer a fresh new approach to the voters of Palm Desert. At 39, I'm offering new blood, a renewed energy, and fresh ideas for the future. my agenda is simple: I want our young residents and growing families to be able to afford living here not just today, but well into the future. We've invested vast amounts of land and money in a new CSU Campus. I want to ensure that thousands of highly-educated, bright young minds "made in Palm Desert" remain in Palm Desert for the long run. Without brains, youth and energy we cannot grow as a city. To do this, we have to bring in high-quality, high-paying jobs into Palm Desert by attracting technology, research and other high-tech sectors to our city. This is what balancing quality of life with inevitable growth is all about. We are at a historical crossroad here. In these challenging financial times, Palm Desert must remain competitive as a retail and hospitality destination. Large development east of the Valley is breathing down our necks and will attract retail, hotels and tourist dollars. We can't afford to drop the ball. Let's start by fullfilling the promise of Desert Willow made in 1997 and bring in our fair share of revenue. I want to improve government accountabilty and bring hope and enthusiasm back to the political process here. I want to build a community where every single resident is a participant and not simply a spectator. My message is simple: you can vote for the past, hoping things don't change too much, or you can help me build the future. And if you agree with me, I could sure use your support on November 2nd, 2004! |
