Why Huntington Beach is BrokeBy Joseph John "Joey" RacanoCandidate for Member, City Council; City of Huntington Beach | |
This information is provided by the candidate |
HB has a 300 Million Dollar budget but is broke!?Many other cities in our area have smaller budgets yet provide more and better services for the residents. So what is wrong with HB? Simple. The city is in the strangle-hold of special interest groups who by and large control the political process, disenabling us from fixing the problem. Case in point- We must remove the undue influence of certain advocacy groups from our political process because these groups have a history of doing what is best for the paycheck of their constituents, and not what is best for the city itself. I would be glad to get specific if anyone is interested, so please contact me at the contact info provided elsewhere on this site. There is no way in heck that 300 Million Dollars should'nt be enough to run the City of Huntington Beach! Here is a quote from my speech Sept. 20th before the HB city council: "...and there are other budget leaks in the hull of the U.S.S. Huntington Beach, as special interest advocacy groups continue their soft-money stranglehold over our elective process, virtually assuring continued conflicts of interest and municipal skullduggery". Respectfully, Joey Racano Candidate HBCC 2004 |
