Letter to the public

MWDOC, water quality and supply are essential items to our cities and to the businesses in this area.

Dear Friends:

I am asking you for your vote to allow me to represent you on the future of water in Huntington Beach and Costa Mesa. If we are to continue our quality of life in this area, water is an essential element to us all. Water is the key to the quality of life for all of us and, without good planning; the supply will be in danger.

The Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) oversees the distribution of water to our area. Its quality and supply are essential items to our cities and to the businesses in this area. I am seeking the 4th District seat on this board.

The news has informed us that we are in our 4th year of drought due to the lack of adequate rain and snow. The experts are now asking themselves if this is the 4th year of a 20-year drought cycle. Our supply from the Colorado River was cut in half last year and will be again this year. This shortage is critical, since we do receive almost half of the water we use today from the Municipal Water District of Orange County, and a major portion of that comes from the Colorado River.

We must seek other sources of water to protect our future and current supply. Desalinization, recycling, storage and conservation are all critical to our future needs. I want to be your representative in seeing what can be done to protect and ensure our supply sources of healthy and plentiful water. The Municipal Water District of Orange County is one of the key organizations in that effort.

Future planning and hard work are essential if we are to have water tomorrow! I promise both!
