Low income HousingBy Robert J. FloresCandidate for Member, City Council; City of Anaheim | |

We have 2 types of Low income housing needsThere are 2 types of needs when discussing low-income housing. First you have the moderate to low income family who has 2 or 3 incomes and can qualify to purchase a home under the city's standards. Then you have the renter who has been a renter for most of his adult life and wants only to be able to rent, or he does not qualify for a purchase. The city then must use various programs to get the developer to build affordable rentals. I believe it would be far better for the city to buy units and make them affordable as a co-op for the very low-income family. In the long run the city would get a return for it's money. |
