This information is provided by the candidate
Why are you running for city council? I have been an effective and accountable member of the Council as I represent the residents of the community. I look forward to completing various city projects such as the Senior Center and the Mile Square recreation expansion. I enjoyed being Mayor three years ago and I will be honored to represent the citizens next year.
If elected, what would you bring to the council? I would continue to provide leadership, experience, accountability, sound decision making skills, accessibility and a proven record.
What do you feel are the two most important issues facing Fountain Valley, and how would you resolve them/where do you stand on them? 1. Budget The state of California has seized $2 million per year from Fountain Valley and $1.4 million additional in the next two years. Resolving this issue will require working with the governor and state officials to keep them from taking local revenue while trimming city expenditures to balance the city budget without reducing public safety services. 2. Water An affordable, quality supply of water available for our residents may be in short supply in the future due to sea water intrusion, current drought conditions and a growing population. To resolve this issue the city needs to continue to work with the Orange County Water District to maintain the sea water intrusion wells and cooperate with other agencies to complete the ground water replenishment system.
