Please call me at home 833-3784 if you have any questions or want to put a "Re-Elect Scannell" sign in your front yard.· Rates One of my ongoing priorities is to ensure our customers have the lowest water and wastewater rates. I believe that DSRSD should cut unnecessary expenses before considering rate increases (which is why I have voted against every proposed water rate increase since being elected). Currently, we have the lowest combined rates in the Tri-Valley area. Our water rates are 10% lower than EBMUD. I will continue to scrutinize our budget and eliminate unnecessary spending to keep rates as low as possible without adversely effecting customer service. · Improve the taste of drinking water A recent survey of DSRSD customers indicates that rates and the taste of drinking water are the two areas residents want us to improve upon. Based upon my request, DSRSD has recently completed a draft Water Quality Improvement Plan which identifies how we can independently improve the taste of our drinking water. In addition, we are working with our water wholesaler Zone 7 to see what they could do to improve the delivered water. I strongly support drinking water improvement measures. · Helping Schools To help our schools cope with the current budget crisis, DSRSD has reduced wastewater rates 18% and landscaping (recycled) water rates by 10% - saving Dublin and San Ramon schools tens of thousands of dollars each year. |
