Political Philosophy for Doug deHaan
Candidate for |
Alameda must retain its livable density and atmosphere. Measure A, the Charter Amendment that protects Alameda's history and neighborhoods, should remain unchanged. Growth should be planned so that traffic remains at comfortable levels. The fiscal stability of Alameda needs to be restored. My eight years on the Economic Development Commisssion as well as experience as a long time businessman in Alameda qualify me to make the necessary decisions as a Councilmember. Our existing retail districts, Park Street, Webster Street, South Shore Center, and the "stations" need to be revitalized. The redevelopment of the former Naval Air Station, the Fleet Industrial Supply Center, and the Northern Waterfront must be economically viable and supportable. |
