Political Philosophy for Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft

Alameda's neighborhoods are a wonderful place to call home. Working together, we can make Alameda safer, cleaner and more convenient. I grew up in Alameda and attended local public schools. I earned degrees from UC Davis and Santa Clara University Law School. As an attorney I practiced anti-discrimination law. My husband and I have 13 year-old twins, Cole and Claire. I led the effort to secure funding for a new library in Alameda. Because of strong community support, Alameda's new Main Library will open its doors in 2006. In 2000 I joined the Alameda Hospital Board of Trustees and chaired the campaign to Save Alameda Hospital. Countless lives are saved because Alamedans have an emergency room 6 minutes from home. My plan for Alameda includes: revitalizing Alameda's retail areas - Park Street, South Shore Center and Webster Street; ensuring well-planned development at Alameda Point; improving traffic around bridges and tubes; limiting airport noise for Harbor Bay and East End residents; ensuring the city and school district work closely to improve schools; protecting quality police, fire and emergency services; making sure the city is frugal and efficient with tax dollars; and keeping property values strong for homeowners. We can make a great community even better. I respectfully request your vote. |
