Robert Russo:
I was born in New York City, June 1959. I had moved to Los Angeles in 1985, then finally, Bakersfield in 1991.
Prior to moving to Bakersfield, I was employed at Kinney's for almost 20 years. I had started off as a salesman and then worked my way up to District Manager. If it were not due to the closure of the division in 1992 I would have probably never left Los Angeles. I was blessed when the opportunity to move to Bakersfield came up in 1991. In addition, the move had brought my daughter Gina and I closer than ever. I also had the opportunity to return to school in order to further my education. In 1995, I enrolled at Bakersfield College and graduated in 1997. I recieved an AA Degree in General Education and then I moved on to Cal. State Bakersfield where I had recieved a BA in Public Adminstration(2000). Bakersfield has given me so many opportunities such as going back to school to complete my degrees and most importantly to earn a comfortable living. NOW, I WANT TO GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY IN ANYWAY POSSIBLE. Some contributions that I would like to be involved in would be to support a growing educational system, the Cultural community, and to continue to boast that the people of Bakersfield are indeed the most kindest, friendliest and giving people in California. Bakersfield truly has a big heart and small town life style in which I have really enjoyed throughout the years. Now I want to make sure that I do my best in order for everyone else to keep enjoying our town as well!
