Questions & Answers

1. How would you implement your top priority?

· Adoption of the strictest possible standards for conduct and appearance and the vigorous enforcement of those standards.

· Strong commitment to goals #2 and #3 above to maintain a safe neighborhood environment.

· Encourage investment by residents and businesses in their properties through urban renewal and community revitalization programs.

· Improve and maintain infrastructure to set a positive example to secure and support residential and business investors.

2. Numerous important issues including transportation, land use planning, housing and economic development for the Greater Hamilton County regions are being deliberated by OKI's Land Use Commission and Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission and Planning Partnership COMPASS; how engaged should local government be in these planning activities? If elected, how would you participate in these planning activities?

Golf Manor is too small and limited in resources to play a major role in regional planning. The village must focus on core needs of safety, infrastructure and economic development. The recent revitalization of the Pleasant Ridge business district, and economic development near Ridge/I71 and in the Hyde Park/Norwood area benefit Golf Manor by improving the business and residential character of the entire area. As Mayor, I will support these efforts as much as resources allow.

3. Ohio Department of Natural Resources in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the National Recycling Coalition conducted a state-specific study and found recycling businesses in Ohio generated $650.6 million dollars in state government revenue. If elected how would you promote recycling and support recycling programs currently in place in your community to reduce solid waste generation?

As a Council Member, I proposed and won support for a mandatory curbside-recycling program. Waste haulers are required by law to provide a recycling bin to each housing unit. Additional steps are needed to promote recycling. I intend to use the community newsletter and enter into partnerships with our waste haulers and the Hamilton County Department of Environmental Services to educate the public on the importance of waste minimization, hazardous materials, reusing, and recycling.
