This information is provided by the candidate |
I am running for City Council in San Mateo and am asking you to support my candidacy in the November 4th election. Given my active participation in local government, business, and charitable organizations, I am eager and able to hold this public office. Your support will help me show San Mateo how I will work toward a better future for all of its citizens as a City Council Member. I have lived in San Mateo for thirty years where my wife Patricia and I have raised four children. During this time, we have witnessed many changes in our city and worked hard with many of you to direct changes for the better. In the coming years, San Mateo will continue to face the pressure for increased development. It is vital that we make informed decisions on how we will deal with these pressures while preserving and enhancing those qualities which make San Mateo so special. My experience as an architect, businessman, volunteer, and Planning Commissioner for the past eight years makes me uniquely qualified to provide service to the people of San Mateo. As a Council Member, I intend to pursue three goals:
1. Increase affordable housing in our city so that thepeople who work here can live here and our children and seniors can remain here. 2. Aggressively promote a vibrant downtown wherelocal businesses can prosper and families can gather safely. 3. Continue to work towards reducing traffic congestionand promote more and better physical links in our community. My leadership and management experience will enable me to deliver results that improve the quality of life in our community. My longstanding commitment to San Mateo will motivate me to work hard, keep an open mind, and do my best. If you have any questions concerning my position on the issues of this campaign you can refer to our website backjack2003.com or contact me directly. I look forward to hearing from you and hope to receive your invaluable support. |
