Jim Larimer grew up in the Midwest and attended Purdue University
where he earned a BS, MS, & Ph.D. After completing a postdoctoral
fellowship at the University of Michigan he joined the faculty at Temple
University in Philadelphia and was a Department Chairman from 1979 to
1983. Prior to moving to California in 1986 to work at NASA's Ames
Research Center, he was the Director of the Sensory Physiology Program
at the National Science Foundation in Washington, DC. Jim is a Senior
Scientist and Research Engineer at NASA working in the field of
electronic displays. He is known internationally within the display
industry and academics for his work on image quality and signal
processing. The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences
awarded an Emmy for an algorithm developed under his leadership at
NASA and the Sarnoff Corporation in Princeton, NJ.
Jim and his wife have lived on the coastside since 1987. They have two
school age children. Jim has been active in school activities and served
on the Site Council at Farallone View. Jim has no financial property
interests in the community other than the Miramar residence that he
owns with his wife. He is running for re-election to the CCWD Board
because of his concerns about maintaining an adequate water system for
fire protection and managing costs. In the last water board election Jim
received the highest vote total.
