G. R. "Sam" Schloemer is a retired businessman, who has been a sales representative, sales manager, and business owner. He held a seat on the Oak Hills Local Board of Education from 1980-1986, serving as president in 1982 and 1986. Sam is a member of the State Board's Resources Committee. He is also assigned to cover exceptional children's issues and to represent the Board on Narrowing the Achievement Gap. In addition to serving on the Board, he is a reading mentor at Oyler Elementary School HOSTS Program, a supernumerary in the Cincinnati Opera, and a member of the Kairos Prison Ministry at the Lebanon Correctional Institute. Sam and his wife, Pat, are sponsors of the Lisa M. Moore Memorial Award at Mother of Mercy High School in Cincinnati. In the past, he was a board member of the Cincinnati Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. He also served in the U.S. Army (E-4) from November 1956 to September 1958. Sam holds a BS in Business Administration degree from the University of Cincinnati and MBA from Xavier University. He is the father of four, all of whom attended and graduated from public schools and hold college degrees. Sam has nine grandchildren, six of whom attend public schools. The other three are under the age of three. Sam was appointed to the State Board's District #4 seat by Governor Bob Taft in February 2002. He represents Hamilton and Warren counties. His current term expires on December 31, 2002. |
