Candidate Statement

By Cheryl Scholar

Candidate for Board Member; Windsor Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
My qualifications as presented in the Voter's Pamphlet
I was first elected to the Windsor School Board in 1988 under the name of Cheryl Ziff. Both of my daughters attended Windsor schools, including Cali Calmecac Charter School. I am offering to serve again as a trustee because I know the value that experience brings to a decision-making body. This is an exciting period of change and growth for Windsor Schools, with new board members and a new Superintendent. If elected, it would be a pleasure and an honor to work with people whose passion for education is equal to mine.

Important decisions involving school facilities, funding, and our academic program will need to be addresed in the coming years. It is vital that we involve parents, staff, and community members in the process of identifying needs, developing plans, and exploring creative solutions. The success of the District's Board Budget Advisory Committee has demonstrated the true value of involving parents and staff on critical issues. I will continue to encourage community involvement, because it builds confidence in our decision-making ability. It also keeps us keep focused on what is most important: our students.
