Political Philosophy for Linda "Linde" Owen

There are many reasons to enter into a political life. First though should be the desire to make good decisions for your constituents. And second, ask them what their needs are. Third, remember to stay objective and fair. It's an ever-complex world these days. Common sense, honesty, ethics, integrity, and insight don't always determine what drives the political wagon. I've reveled over victories in the courts against bad people, projects and decisions. I find it amazing to see what can happen when one person or small group choose to do something they believe in. Our democracy is founded from this kind of spirit, but it can also result in catastrophes like Enron and nuclear waste plants. After attending two years of Los Osos CSD meetings, I've begun to understand all the complexities of this mini metropolis and feel that some areas deserve a fresh new conventional approach. So here are some political basics. Less is more, quality over quantity, plan ahead, don't sell out, practice what you preach, walk your talk, we're all connected, don't dirty the nest, love thy neighbor, love thy planet, giving is receiving, visualize peace, respect yourself, nurture harmony, live to dance, sing, and play a little. Find consensus, live simply so that others may simply live. I'm not an ordinary politician and I hope that's ok. :-) |
