Political Philosophy for Don Boatman
Candidate for |

|
We've had a small group of active political people that have set the direction for Morro Bay for the last 12 years that has not been toward the citizens but toward self-serving business interests. I would change that to be more citizen oriented. I do support small business and the fishing industry. These have helped Morro Bay grow into the city that it is. I do not support a new power plant in Morro Bay. I've worked around the world on power plants and have rarely seen a plant as the central focal point of a city of 10,000 people. Before the sale of the plant by PG&E, the city never realized over $30,000 income from the plant. Yet citizens continue to believe that without the plant, the city would not exist. I work well with every group and nationality I've come in contact with in the last 40 years. I want to lead a city government here in Morro Bay that takes into account the needs and desires of the citizens of Morro Bay first. I would change the direction to be more citizen oriented. We need to increase services to citizens, such as increasing and improving areas for citizen recreation such as bike trails, teen centers, etc. |
