Unlike many other California cities in financial crisis, under Darrell's leadership Corona has had a balanced budget in each of the eight years he's served on the city council. In fact, not only has Corona not implemented new taxes, its carefully managed budget has led to the addition of over 100 acres of new parks, the implementation of a downtown revitalization project, the establishment of 10 new schools as well as having successfully attracted new retail stores and cultural and recreational facilities, with more on the horizon. Darrell's efforts to bring more dining opportunities to Corona have already paid off, with a number of national restaurants set to open early next year.
