My eighteen years in City planning and two years as a transportation planner has given me a broad concept of what a city needs recreationally.
I have worked for a small coastal community in northern California. As a planning director, I assisted the Mendocino Coast Recreationn and Park District in developing a master plan for a large regional park and golf course, similar to the sports complex planned for in Coalinga.
I also authored the Open Space, Conservation, and Recreation Element of the City's general Plan update. This involved close cooperation with the park district and the public.
I have also voluntered the past fifteen years as a coach, referee, umpire, groundskeeper, and a president of a girls softball association for five years. The association conducted many fundraisers to purchase new equipment, construct a new softball field, and to pay for the day-to-day operations of the association. Since moving to Coalinga, I have volunteered as a coach and referee for the American Youth Soccer Association.
My work schedule allows me to be a substitute teacher on Fridays for the Coalinga-Huron Unfied School District. As a father, a coach, and a teacher, I know all to well how important it is to keep our children active and out of harm's way.
I do believe that as an elected official, I am not representing any political entity, but all the residents of Coalinga, whether they are able to vote or not. I believe my professional background and my community involvement makes me a candidate to vote for and work for you.
