KAREN STEPPERS? PRIORITES FOR DANVILLE STOP DANVILLE?S POOR PLANNING Since 1994, the Town Council has allowed more than 3,500 new housing units in our town. Many of the units are high density, lower cost projects constructed without adequate facilities and without planning for traffic demands. Traffic is worse than ever. Parking is a challenge. Waiting time at signals can seem endless. Danville has grown by the thousands. Why has Danville grown so rapidly without protecting our quality of life? Unlike the current Town Council majority, KAREN STEPPER will oppose new housing that fails to guarantee the adequate facilities and traffic standards that Danville residents expect. INCREASE PARKS & SPORTS FIELDS KAREN STEPPER believes it is wrong for kids, parents, and seniors to have to vie for the same, inadequate facilities. Danville has for too long neglected the real needs of its citizens for athletics and recreation. KAREN STEPPER worked successfully to expand and improve fields throughout Danville including Diablo Vista Park and the Athenian School. As she has for years, KAREN STEPPER will establish partnerships with the School District, sports leagues and community groups to find ways to improve and increase Danville?s parkland. IMPROVE TRAFFIC KAREN STEPPER will work to ensure that traffic signals are timed properly, lane capacity is optimized, and parking is expanded. KAREN STEPPER believes that neighborhoods know best what works for them regarding local traffic. Danville must reach out to the community, listen to concerns and incorporate new ideas. ENSURE FISCAL INTEGRITY ENS As a Certified Public Accountant since 1985, KAREN STEPPER brings the conservative fiscal skills needed to manage the Town's finances in these times of State cutbacks. KAREN STEPPER is opposed to new taxes and understands the burden of high taxes on small businesses and families. |
