Candidate for
Member, Governing Board; San Lorenzo Unified School District; Unexpired Short Term

Ray Grangoff has been a member of the Board of Education since Decemberof 2000; at the age of 18 he became the youngest person to serve in that position. Following only one year of service on the Board Ray was selected by his colleagues to serve as Board President. Some of the accomplishments Ray is most proud of include: worked with the Board to hire a new superintendent; participated in mapping out the vision for the district's e-learning project; visited district schools on a regular bases (Ray continues to visit 2-3 schools a week); represented the Board on two community committees (Citizen's Advisory Committee to the Sheriff, and the Council for the Prevention of Drinking and Driving).

In addition to serving on the Board Ray is a student at Cal State Hayward; he is currently starting his third year at Cal State working on a major in Political Science and a minor in Economics. Ray also works as a cashier at Costco Wholesale in San Leandro. Since August of 2002 Ray been working part time in County Supervisor Alice Lai-Bitker's San Lorenzo office; as a assistant to the supervisor he is responsible for youth issues in San Lorenzo.

Prior to serving on the School Board Ray was a student in San Lorenzo Schools. He attended Bay School from Kindergarten to Seventh Grade and Arroyo High School from 8-12th grade. Ray graduated from Arroyo in June of 2000.
