I was elected to San Francisco's Republican County Central Committee in 2000. As a member of the Executive Committee, I helped develop a strategy to revitalize our party and make it again relevant in San Francisco. But our task is far from complete - I ask your continued support so that I can press forward in that effort.

  • In November 2001, I was the only registered Republican to seek any position on the ballot. I proved wrong those who believe Republicans cannot win in San Francisco; out of 23 candidates for five positions, I was the 4th highest vote-getter, with 32.4% of the vote. No non-incumbent Republican candidate for any office (from president to community college board) has received a higher share of the San Francisco city-wide vote in over two decades; even when incumbents are included, my performance ranks second highest over the same time frame. Further, while that race itself proved irrelevant (the office for which I was running was not created), we built a terrific platform for future victories; in my supervisorial district, I won 69% more votes than my nearest opponent. I've demonstrated that Republicans can win, and now want to continue to build the party apparatus to make further wins possible.

  • I bring to the leadership of our party a strong background in business, including experience in investment banking with Goldman Sachs, in management consulting with McKinsey, and in venture capital with the Fremont Group.

  • I also bring to the job a strong background in public policy issues. As an undergraduate at Harvard, I majored in economics with a specific focus on policy issues; I graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. At Yale Law School I was Senior Editor of both the flagship Yale Law Journal and of the Yale Journal on Regulation.

  • Finally, I bring to Central Committee a long background in public service. I am a former captain in the United States Army Reserve; I am a former Executive Director of Minds Matter; and I am currently Big Brother to a fourteen year-old boy and a volunteer with Hands On San Francisco.
