If elected, I would support increasing Democratic voter registration in the County. Do to the fact that a majority of new registered voters are declining to state their party affiliation and are in fact not Democrats, the DCCC must make it a top priority to register Democrats and turn them out to vote. I support accomplishing this by:

 Forming a "Registration Committee" of volunteers. This committee will be built by appointing at least one member of each charter Democratic club to the committee. This committee will meet on a monthly basis in form ideas to raise money and hold registration and membership drives. All the charter clubs will work together and be involved. The committee will set up booths and staff the volunteers at ALL the neighborhood festivals and also work with the colleges and high schools to hold political seminars featuring elected officials as guest speakers.

 With my marketing and advertising experience, we could come up with creative targeted marketing and advertising campaigns. We must keep in mind, we need to target the people living in the county who are not register and also the folks that are registered but do not vote. We need to get these people to attend low-cost political functions. These need not be the big time fund raising functions, but these would be considered "awareness functions". There are too many people in this city that are not aware of what is going on politically.  We also need to go after the Neighborhood associations. Elected officials of the DCCC should go and speak at these neighborhood meetings. I'm not saying to go and talk about issues, but instead go and educate the members about what the DCCC is and what they do. Tell these members how important it is to get the word out to their friends and family to get involved and have their voice is heard.

 The DCCC should also be hosting public tours of City Hall. The "registration committee" should raise money and advertise these tours in the newspapers. These tours should also be advertised at local businesses so the employees know that these tours are available.

The above ideas need to take place year round, and not just in the few months leading up to an election.

Strategies I would support to increase Democratic voter turnout in the next two elections.

 I would say all of the same ideas as above, but in a much faster, high impact way. This could include getting the DCCC web site up to date and working together with the all the Democratic charter clubs. The DCCC web site should have links to every charter club web site or at least information about all the charter clubs and contact information. The DCCC web site should be kept up to date and current year round, not just update for the current election. Raise money and then advertise the DCCC web site in print, television and radio about this web site. I also feel that non-democrats should not be permitted to hole high office or sit on the board of any charter democratic clubs. One has to wonder if a non-democrat has any interest in getting people to register as democrats, which should be a top priority for each and every charter club.

 We need to start building e-mail and name & address list of residents in the city. Merge purge those names of people that are registered and active voters, pull their names out, and target the non-registered and non-active voters.

I woke up about two years ago to what is going on politically in this town. Since that time I have had the opportunity to wake up others. If I get elected I will look forward to keep doing what I've been doing but on a much larger scale. I am amazed at how uninformed and uninvolved the people of this city are, but then I realize that I was the same way. I was voting, but not truly knowing what or whom I was voting for. We need to wake these people up, and they need to be active and informed in the political system. I know if I can do, we can get many others to do it too.
